  • Interviews clients and administer the Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) and other validated mental health and substance abuse screening tools to develop recommendations for clients.
  • Writes complex documents that are used to designate clients to the proper programs and services
  • Gathers collateral information necessary to conduct assessments.
  • Uses information from the assessment to write reports used by the CSCD, District Attorney's Office, and Courts to make determinations about treatment and assignment of clients.
  • Conducts interviews and evaluations of offenders, visitations to jail, and pre-sentence investigations.
  • Conducts office, telephone conversations and field visits with probationers on scheduled basis, after work hours or on weekend.
  • Researches, prepares and evaluates violation reports and make the appropriate modifications to the requested reports.
  • Administers random drug and alcohol testing through urinalysis and hair testing and make appropriate referrals for assessment and treatment.
  • Maintains and record documentation on each defendant’s case; prepare statistical data bi-monthly on all cases assigned.
  • Ensures offenders receive court directed counseling, screening and referrals as needed.
  • Maintains communication with other agencies involved in offender’s supervision plan.
  • Supervises electronic monitored offenders.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or field approved by the State.
  • No previous job related experience required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the Probationer, public, other employees and elected officials.
  • Required to become a certified corrections officer within one year of employment by attending training provided by the state.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $22.96 - $28.70 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
