Apprentice Water/Wastewater Operator

Under direct supervision, the Apprentice Operator performs skilled work in the day-to-day operations of water wells, lift stations, and wastewater plant operations.

The hours are primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but due to rotating on-call assignments, they will also include after-hours emergency calls and some weekend duty hours.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Utility repairs, manhole repairs, meter leaks, tap line leaks, calibrate meters, maintain and repair district wastewater and water facilities.
  • Assist with plant/facility operations as directed/needed, main lines, manholes, meters, sanitary sewers, and valve leaks.
  • Respond to and resolve customer service complaints related to District facilities.
  • Review service orders for accuracy, details, materials, and comments.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance to District facilities and service lines are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner while meeting regulatory requirements.

Must successfully pass background and drug screening and have a clear driving record.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Stable Work History

Licenses Required:

  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • TCEQ Water/Wastewater license-Preferred
