Girls US Head Soccer Coach and Athletic Dept Asst Coaches Professionals 30+ days ago Requisition ID: 1032 SUMMARY OF POSITION, MINISTRY PURPOSE, FUNCTION, AND DUTIES Coach Position: Fort Bend Christian Academy exists to glorify God through excellence in a college-preparatory, Christian education. It is the mission of Fort Bend Christian Academy to equip students to thrive spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Under the direction of the Head of School and the Athletic Director, the Coach serves in a key position of Christian ministry and helps fulfill the school’s purpose by coaching, teaching and promoting the Christian faith, providing excellence in the school’s athletic and co-curricular programs, and faithfully performing all other duties as assigned. Any additional information, requirements, or duties related to your specific coaching post will be provided by the Athletic Director or may also be added to this document as “Attachment 1 – Additional Information”. ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS PERSONAL BELIEF & BEHAVIOR Affirm a passion for the physical, intellectual, and moral formation of students through Christian education, athletics, and co-curricular activities, believing that coaching is pleasing to God, a faithful use of one’s gifts, and a Christian ministry at FBCA. Be a mature Christian who affirms Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, supports the school’s Doctrinal Statement and Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality, and lives a lifestyle consistent with these statements and with Chapter 1 of the FBCA Employee Handbook (Declaration of Values). Participate regularly in worship at a Christian church (Hebrews 10:25) whose doctrine and beliefs are not contrary to FBCA’s Doctrinal Statement. Articulate a biblically centered philosophy of Christian education and coaching. Demonstrate a willingness to mentor students and serve as a positive Christian role model to all in the FBCA community (I Timothy 4:12, Luke 6:40). Understand and commit to FBCA’s educational objectives, religious mission, and philosophy of education. Possess the knowledge and ability to convey Christian beliefs, teachings, and values aligned with the school’s Doctrinal Statement, supporting students in the development and maturity of their Christian faith. Enjoy working with young people. PROFESSIONAL Demonstrate appropriate subject-matter knowledge and effectiveness in coaching the sport or co-curricular activity assigned while maintaining appropriate conduct and discipline of participating students. Possess the biblical knowledge needed to integrate Scripture and biblical truth into the activity being coached. Commit to the mission and values of Fort Bend Christian Academy. Pursue continuous professional growth and development. Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth including the systematic scheduling of athletic events around all on-campus staff development opportunities. Seek the counsel of the principal, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude. Provide input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school. Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service retreats, committee, and faculty meetings. Follow established procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature. Maintain First Aid and CPR certifications. Contribute to the general improvement of the school program. INDIVIDUAL PRACTICES, SKILLS & ABILITIES Demonstrate strong presentation, time-management, and organizational skills. Show dedication to serving students and families from a wide variety of backgrounds. Be self-motivated, hardworking, diligent, and willing to help others. Demonstrate strong interpersonal relationship skills. Exercise good judgment and discretion. Maintain the physical stamina required to fulfill professional obligations and ensure student safety—including tasks such as climbing stairs, riding buses, lifting common materials related to the coached activity, supervising indoor/outdoor activities, and assisting with emergency evacuations. Demonstrate proficiency with computer and technology applications that are needed for the coach’s role. Communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Adapt readily to schedule changes and other adjustments. Exhibit the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations. Maintain an orderly environment. Demonstrate a teachable, servant-hearted spirit. COACH RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The school’s expectations for coaches are explained in the performance standards listed below. These performance standards correspond to the main responsibilities or duties performed by a coach. The coach is then evaluated on The his/her effectiveness in meeting these standards in accordance with school policy. Performance Standard 1: Christian Role Model/Integration of Biblical Values The coach serves as a Christian role model striving to follow and honor the Lord Jesus Christ in their personal life. The coach also integrates Christian values and biblical truth into the activity being coached. Performance Standard 2: Knowledge of Subject Matter/Sport/Activity The coach demonstrates current knowledge of subject matter, participates in professional growth opportunities, demonstrates an understanding of the sport or activity being coached. Performance Standard 3: Effective Planning/Correct Use of Systems and Tools The coach uses appropriate tools to plan and document work; the coach uses data to plan for practices and competitions, implement coaching and instructional strategies, and use resources to promote learning for all athletes. The work of the coach results in acceptable, measurable student progress. Performance Standard 4: Coaching Delivery/Effectiveness The coach effectively communicates and coaches students by using appropriate strategies and considering a variety of methods to maximize effectiveness. The coach assesses student participants regularly to measure understanding, skills, and progress. Performance Standard 5: Individual and Environment & Culture The coach provides a well-managed, positive, and orderly sports team/co-curricular environment that promotes the development of Christian character, athletic/co-curricular activity skill, personal achievement, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and support of others. The coach deals with disciplinary matters in a positive and effective manner. Performance Standard 6: Communication/Relationship with Parents and Students The coach communicates effectively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community. Performance Standard 7: Dependability/Punctuality/Professionalism The coach demonstrates good personal standards and is characterized by solid professionalism in their actions, attitudes, communication, and demeanor. This includes being prepared each day to coach their assigned sport/co-curricular activity and being on time with practice and competition logistics planning pursuant to school policy or the administration’s guidance. Performance Standard 8: Leadership, Initiative, and Support of Administration The coach is a team player and supports athletic administration, demonstrates initiative, and is willing to take on leadership or service roles as needed. The coach actively works to promote a successful school environment and to support athletic and school wide leadership, colleagues, parents, and students. Girls US School Head Soccer Coach Set up a systematic plan for using the game of soccer to disciple athletes daily. Oversee the entire Upper School and Middle School soccer program, including promotion, practice/game schedules, and student eligibility. Oversee the cleaning, repair, and secure storage of soccer equipment and uniforms. Ensure compliance with all TAPPS regulations. Implement preseason, in-season, postseason, and offseason plans, including summer camps. Manage administrative duties such as selecting officials and scheduling sub-varsity games. Athletic Department Administrative Duties: Responsible for all administrative issues and schedules. Assist with the management of all TAPPS competitive activities that occur at the home campus as well as additional tournaments/meets held by FBCA. Coordinate and evaluate the daily Administrator on Duty schedule and the Field House Opening and Closing schedule. Conduct TAPPS compliance meetings/EOS for assigned programs. Direct playoff arrangements for all assigned programs. Assist business and operations director in budget planning for all upper school athletics and middle school athletics. Liaison between the Athletic Department and Construction and Facilities and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all department projects. Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and stand for extended periods in an outdoor environment. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, and frequently lift/move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. This is an exempt, twelve-month, full-time assignment eligible for benefits.
