What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Services Manager position at Forsyth County?
Forsyth County's General Services department is looking to hire a Facilities Services Manager. The Facilities Services Manager will be responsible for managing in-house staff totaling over 30 positions, managing multiple janitorial contracts in buildings where the work is outsourced, and procurement of all janitorial supplies for both in-house and contracted staff’s use. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with experience working in a fast-paced environment. Experience with contract management and procurement in a government setting is essential. A successful candidate will also have experience developing and managing annual divisional budgets.
In addition to ensuring that routine and planned janitorial work is completed appropriately, the Facilities Services Manager is responsible to liaise with internal customers, tenants, and other agencies occupying County facilities to address concerns and/or changing needs. Professional written and oral communication skills are critical. The Facilities Services Manager will be expected to respond to concerns and/or questions by email, phone, and/or by utilizing the County’s computerized maintenance management system.
This position will be based at the Forsyth County Government Center but is expected to make routine site visits to all locations to verify adequate service delivery from both in-house and contracted staff.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm with a requirement to work a minimum of 2 days per week with the second shift staff between the hours of 3pm – 10pm.A successful candidate should have to following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to develop and implement a recycling program.
Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to prepare specifications for contracts and to negotiate contracts with vendors.
Graduation from high school or GED and five years of experience overseeing custodial, property or facilities operations, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
Must have demonstrated ability to train and develop staff.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.Essential duties and responsibilities included but are not limited to:
Negotiates contracts and approves invoices for payment.
Oversees the operations of a large contract for the provision of nighttime janitorial services as well as multiple other janitorial related contracts.
Approves all procurement for supplies and equipment for janitorial services.
Oversees solid waste removal at various County facilities.
Plans and supervises the operation of the Facilities Services Division.
Participates in the recruitment and selection process and the appraisal of subordinate staff with the other division supervisors.
Conducts or coordinates a monthly in-house training session for custodial staff.
Responsible for special projects as assigned by department leadership.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with contractors.
Monitors contractor performance and reports on contractor service levels.
Develops the annual budget for the Facilities Services division and monitors expenditures throughout the fiscal year
Responds to customer needs and requests.
Ensures appropriate application, use, and storage of all chemicals used by the Facilities Services division
Perform related work as required
