What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crime Analyst position at Forsyth County?

Performs professional work in crime statistical research and analysis within Forsyth County.
This non-sworn position performs strategic analysis of information and statistical reporting for the Sheriff's Office. This position works closely with the Sheriff's Office Real Time Intelligence Center as a statistician. Plans, organizes and carries out complex projects under general supervision.A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, computer sciences, statistics, business administration or a related field is preferred. A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered. Previous professional experience in conducting statistical research and analysis. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Must have a valid NC Driver's license. Prefer knowledge of Central Square records management and dispatch systems.Gathers, selects, compiles and analyzes crime and other data pertaining to characteristics of the community, to determine high crime areas, trends, patterns, peak demand periods, calls for service, and other information related to effective deployment of manpower and resources;
Sets up databases and creates reports using Excel and Crystal Reports;
Prepares reports and supporting graphic display materials descriptive of research and recommendations;
Generates SQL queries to access records management systems and dispatch databases;
Extracts data from records management systems;
Prepares statistical summations to include monthly and quarterly activity summaries, department annual reports and other on-request reports as needed;
Conducts resource allocation studies for budgeting and scheduling purposes;
Develops and implements comprehensive surveys;
Conducts comprehensive research projects, including assisting with program evaluation studies and other administrative studies as assigned;
Conducts GIS based analyses;
