Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position exist in order to provide the service of overseeing construction progress, quality and completeness of B1 and expansion projects through the engineering center. This position provides coordinating multiple projects and coordinating with other disciplines to aid in the completion of the projects. After construction is completed, this position can lead loop check and assist on startup and commissioning activities.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Inspections: Inspect delivered equipment and material against engineering specification sheets and vendor data sheets. Ensure all requirements meet specification. Report and discrepancies to engineering. Review project instrument lists to confirm all equipment are onsite and inspected prior to construction.

Quality Control: Study construction bid packages prior to construction to ensure project is implemented per design criteria. Provide feedback to design for any abnormalities or changes needed in the scope of work. Walk down projects with contractors to confirm all aspects of the job are conveyed and understood by the contractor.

Schedule Control: Review contractor C-charts to ensure project schedule requirements are met. Communicate with other Engineering Center disciplines to develop and/or modify contractor start dates ensuring overall project schedule is maintained. Address any concerns the contractor may have that would impede progress.

Safety: Ensure construction contractors comply with all Formosa safety standards and procedures. Walk down all construction jobs with the unit's safety specialist to confirm all hazards are accounted for and proper PPE will be utilized for the job location and tasks performed.

Calibration and Loop Test: Perform instrument calibrations and loop test for all instruments on B1 capital improvement projects. Ensure all required personnel are present to witness, acknowledge, and sign all documentation needed to transfer stewardship.

THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.

III. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
    • High School diploma and a minimum of 5 years in Instrumentation and/or Instrument Construction in a petrochemical facility are required.
  • Previous Related Experience Required
    • Minimum of 5 years in Instrumentation and/or Instrument Construction in a petrochemical facility are required.
  • Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
    • Instrument calibration and loop test.
    • Troubleshooting electrical circuits.
    • Knowledge in DCS and PLC hardware.
    • General PC skills MS Office.
    • Self-motivated, curious and eager to learn.
    • Willingness to take over areas of responsibilities.
