Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position exists to maintain and effectively operate the Traffic Department in an environmentally sound and safe manner, to ensure maximum production and while managing cost. Ensure personnel are updated on company policy, and process knowledge. Ensure personnel are trained to handle all process situations and ensure that all jobs are done as safely as possible. Serve as the Maintenance Coordinator, Training Coordinator, B-1 PIC, Unit MI coordination and handle special projects as needed. Coordinate with Management to control departmental expenses and budget.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Production - Maximize Traffic Departmental productivity through best practices, benchmarking, planning, failure-root cause analysis, and development of continuous improvement techniques to increase reliability, operational effectiveness, and efficiencies. Review, coordinate, prioritize, assign, and supervise work duties. Implement systems and processes to ensure consistent product quality and conduct production audits and inspections to reinforce performance objectives. Maintain current knowledge of marine shipping order processing and provide coverage for marine order coordination between marketing and shift personnel as needed.
Safety - Diligently lead Traffic Operations Personnel in Safety Policies and Procedures, and statutory regulations, to prevent/reduce injuries and near misses; process safety and initiation and implementation of improvements; conduct safety audits.
Environmental - Lead Traffic Department operations in adherence to Environmental Policies and Procedures and statutory regulations, to result in zero non-conformances and zero emissions/releases. Manage hazardous and non-hazardous wastes as required by State and Federal regulations and in compliance with FPC-TX policies regarding hazardous and non- hazardous waste management.
Cost – Control Departmental costs as measured by monthly management report. Analysis of cost deviations and causes of costs; initiation of cost efficiencies; identification of inefficiencies and recommendations to correct.
Personnel Development - Develop Traffic personnel by assigning stewardship areas that promote ownership and strong working relationships within the unit. Maintain knowledge of best practices and provide continuing education opportunities to support employee growth and development. Foster an environment that encourages collaboration, cross-functional teamwork, and information sharing while communicating and reinforcing high-performance expectations, individual initiative, and accountability. Manage unit overtime within established limits.
Project Management - Perform special projects as assigned by unit section management. Act as PIC and lead a project from concept, through management to successful completion as required. Assist department engineer with revisions to departmental SOP’s. Provide new ideas to promote higher efficiency while keeping costs down.
THM – Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain plant in like-new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA
1. Previous Related Experience Required
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in process plant operations in a petrochemical facility with direct knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory compliance. Inland Traffic Department experience preferred.
2. Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
  • Must have working knowledge of the chemical storage and loading industry,
including loading operations (truck and railcar) as well as general rail switching
knowledge.
  • Must have good working knowledge of the principals of flow and measurement of liquids.
  • Must be able to understand critical lab result data as it pertains to process control
points and environmental control points in Traffic processes.
  • Must be familiar with Standard Operating Procedures and how to write or modify them.
  • Must be familiar with how to implement all environmental health and safety
procedures that pertain to Inland Traffic Operations.
  • Must be familiar with tank farm and pump operations.
  • General PC skills such as MS Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • General Mathematic and Writing skills.
3. Education
High School diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of ten (10) years of direct job-related experience required; Or Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of direct job-related experience; Or Associates degree with eight (8) years of direct job-related experience
4. Other Certification/Training Required
  • Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
  • Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for
current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
  • Must participate in the following subject training and pass required certifications as
they pertain to the job position.
