The Team Lead (Night Shift) – Quality plays a key role in supporting daily quality operations at the customer site. This position supervises a team of Quality Inspectors while remaining actively engaged in inspection and defect documentation activities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can balance team coordination, inspection accuracy, and project support to ensure all work meets company and customer standards for quality, timeliness, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Assign, monitor, and guide the daily work of Quality Inspectors.
- Lead pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities, safety reminders, and customer requirements.
- Coach and mentor inspectors to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Ensure all team members receive and understand proper training.
- Promote teamwork, resolve conflicts, and maintain positive morale.
Quality Inspection & Reporting
- Perform inspections of automotive parts, assemblies, and vehicles for defects and non-conformances.
- Accurately document and log inspection results, including photos, in company systems.
- Conduct spot checks and audits to verify consistency across inspections.
- Escalate quality issues to supervisors, project coordinators, and customers as necessary.
Customer & Project Support
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for inspectors, customers, and management.
- Support project planning and containment activities to ensure only approved components reach OEM customers.
- Participate in meetings to report progress, issues, and corrective actions.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Verify and approve team time records to support payroll and client invoicing.
- Ensure all reports, forms, and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain open communication with adjoining shifts for smooth handoffs and continuity.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
- 2–4 years of quality inspection or production experience in the automotive industry.
- 1 year of leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, or similar role).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and data entry systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead others with minimal supervision.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Flexibility to work 10–12-hour shifts, 5–6 days per week.
Environmental & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to temperature changes, noise, and outdoor conditions.
- Physically demanding role: regular standing, bending, lifting, and moving up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet.
