Automotive Mechanic Greer, South Carolina
The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspection, repair and diagnostic services. You will work on computer systems diagnosis, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical/electrical component replacement. You must have the ability to explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include other associates and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform work specified repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or OEM standards.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brake, air conditioning, etc. to specification.
- Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to management and customers.
- Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.
- Inspect and test new vehicles and recording findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
- Work will be performed in a manufacturing facility and can include working on the assembly line.
Qualification/Requirement:
- Current driver's license; clean driving record
- Pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidays; work overtime when required
- Arrive to work on-time
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Preferably have experience with OEM
- Computer skills required
- Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service
- Working knowledge of shop equipment such as diagnostic equipment, AC equipment, etc
Environmental Requirements:
- Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
- Some duties performed outside in all weather conditions
- Physically demanding position
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet
- Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8 hours
Experience/Education:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
