Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists with patient intake, setup, and preparation for therapy sessions, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are ready.
- Perform patient oriented tasks such as assisting with exercises, applying modalities and instruction in proper technique and body mechanics.
- Maintain communication with therapists regarding patient progress, treatment plans, and session details in compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Support rehabilitation care by helping patients perform prescribed exercises and activities to improve mobility, strength, and function.
- Ensure a clean, organized treatment environment by sanitizing equipment and assisting with inventory management of supplies.
- Communicate effectively with patients to provide encouragement, explain procedures clearly, and foster a positive therapeutic experience.
Skills
- Strong patient service orientation with excellent communication skills to engage diverse patient populations effectively.
- Practicing in a physical therapy role with knowledge of physiotherapy techniques, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Experience working in the physical therapy outpatient clinical setting specializing in orthopedics, geriatrics, or post-acute care.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality while managing sensitive health information responsibly.
- Knowledge of CPR certification and emergency response procedures relevant to acute care environments.
- Familiarity with outpatient rehabilitation processes as it pertains to physical therapy.
