Assistant Teacher/Floater

Position Overview: The Head Teacher will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the classroom, implementing developmentally appropriate practices, and fostering a positive, engaging environment for children, families, and staff. This role includes mentoring assistant teachers, maintaining compliance with state regulations, and promoting high-quality early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:

• - Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote learning and development
• - Supervise and support assistant teachers and classroom aides
• - Ensure a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
• - Maintain accurate records for attendance, incidents, and developmental milestones
• - Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding child progress and classroom updates
• - Model appropriate behavior and professionalism for staff and children
• - Monitor classroom ratios and ensure compliance with OCFS and Forever Young policies

Qualifications:

• - Proven childcare experience (minimum of 1 year in a licensed childcare setting preferred)
• - High School Diploma or GED required; CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• - Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills
• - Understanding of child development and positive guidance strategies
• - Must be reliable, nurturing, and able to work as part of a team
