What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Specialist position at Forever Paws Animal Shelter?

This position prefers 1- 2 years of animal husbandry experience as well as some medical knowledge. However, we are willing to train the right candidate if they possess all the other skills required.
The applicant must be able to participate in the maintenance of a clean and sanitary building, kennels and grounds. Provide for the feeding, medical care, boarding and adoption of animals. The applicant must be comfortable and willing to handle animals of all kinds. Applicant must have customer service experience.
The applicant must:
- Be able to multitask, work well in a VERY fast paced environment.
- Possess computer experience and money management skills.
- Must have excellent people skills.
- Must be able to work as a team member.
- Must be comfortable in handling large breed dogs and working dogs
- High School graduate or GED
- Experience in a kennel, vet or animal shelter is preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be able to pass a CORI check
- Supervise volunteers
- Lift 50 pounds or more
- Have the ability to provide professional references
- Must not be allergic to animals of any kind
The position is a full time position that WILL include weekends and holidays. The hours are from 8 am - 4:30pm.
