POSITION OVERVIEW
Foretravel Motorcoach, the industry's premier luxury motorcoach manufacturer since 1967, is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control Technician to support our manufacturing and warehouse operations in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory records, managing the systematic receipt and distribution of parts, materials, and supplies, and actively supporting the day-to-day operations of the warehouse. This role serves as a critical link in the organization's supply chain, ensuring that materials are properly documented, stored, and made available to internal departments in a timely and efficient manner. The Inventory Control Technician operates within the Inventory Control department and is expected to uphold a high standard of data integrity, organizational discipline, and safety compliance at all times. Success in this position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can perform independently while collaborating effectively across purchasing, receiving, and logistics functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned as operational needs require.
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming inventory shipments; verify accuracy and condition against corresponding purchase orders and packing slips.
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory counts using ERP/WMS software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar enterprise platform).
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled cycle counts as well as full physical inventories; document results and report findings to the supervisor.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly; escalate unresolved variances and systemic issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Label, organize, and properly store materials, parts, and supplies in designated warehouse locations in accordance with established storage protocols.
- Process stock requisitions, pick orders, and issue materials to internal departments; confirm accurate quantities and timely fulfillment.
- Monitor reorder points and minimum stock levels; submit replenishment requests to purchasing in a timely manner to prevent stockouts.
- Coordinate with purchasing, receiving, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability and accurate documentation throughout the supply chain.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse and storage areas in full compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Prepare inventory reports, variance analyses, and trend summaries for management review; assist in identifying root causes of recurring discrepancies.
- Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and in compliance with applicable certification requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and industry-specific regulatory requirements.
- Support receiving and shipping functions during peak periods, staff shortages, or as directed by management.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret inventory data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvement; generate reports and present findings to management as requested.
- Review, process, and track manufacturing orders and engineering change orders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely updates within the ERP system.
- Conduct routine inventory audits across all storage locations, document findings, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and maintain compliance with internal controls.
- Provide day-to-day operational support to parts room personnel, assisting with parts identification, issuance, and organization to ensure seamless workflow continuity.
- Execute end-of-day and end-of-month inventory closing procedures, including batch processing, transaction reconciliation, and period-end reporting within the ERP system.
- Maintain and update product structure records (bills of materials and component configurations) to ensure data integrity and alignment with current manufacturing requirements.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–3 years of directly related experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, stockroom management, or a comparable field.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP or WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, or similar) strongly preferred.
- Current forklift certification preferred; must be able to obtain certification upon hire if not already certified.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel (data entry, sorting, basic formulas), Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to data accuracy and inventory integrity.
- Ability to read and correctly interpret shipping documents, purchase orders, bills of lading, and inventory reports.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal departments and external vendors.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Solid basic math skills for counting, calculating quantities, performing reconciliations, and identifying discrepancies.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods throughout a standard work shift.
- Ability to work in warehouse environments subject to varying temperatures, humidity levels, and moderate noise.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent supply chain credential.
- Experience with barcode scanning systems and RF (radio frequency) handheld technology in a warehouse environment.
- Experience in manufacturing or luxury/custom vehicle production environments preferred.
