Job Summary
The Youth Development Specialist is responsible for supporting youth in their educational, life skills, and career development journeys. This role plays a vital part in empowering young people to build leadership skills, explore postsecondary opportunities, and engage in meaningful cultural and educational experiences.
The Youth Development Specialist will plan, organize, and actively participate in youth-centered activities, including facilitating the Youth Leadership Group and accompanying youth to cultural and educational events such as college tours.
This is a one-year contracted position.

Key Responsibilities/Activities
- Provide individualized guidance and support to youth in areas of education, career readiness, and life skills development
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate youth programming and group activities, including the Youth Leadership Group
- Organize and participate in cultural, educational, and enrichment activities, including college tours and campus visits
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that encourages youth engagement and leadership
- Collaborate with program staff and community partners to enhance youth development opportunities
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to youth participation and program activities
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required; Associate degree considered with experience
- Experience planning and organizing recreational activities
- Organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop working relationships with children, teens and adults using good interpersonal skills
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and some weekends
- Ability to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City region and out of state
- Ability to maintain composure and function well under stress
- A clean New York state driver’s license to assist with driving youth on activities, college tours and taking them to college

Salary : $50,000 - $65,000
