What You'll Do
- Collect spatial data in the field using GPS units and mobile GIS applications such as ArcGIS Field Maps.
- Edit GIS layers including utilities, trails, signage, parking areas, and road networks.
- Produce and print high-quality PDF maps to support internal and public needs.
- Organize and maintain GIS data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability across projects.
- Follow safety procedures and help support a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere and provide excellent service to staff and partners.
- Perform other duties as needed to support geospatial operations.
- Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in GIS, geography, urban or regional planning, or a related field.
- Valid Driver's License in good standing.
- GIS certification or completion of a GIS certificate program preferred.
- Knowledge of GPS data collection methods and equipment.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCad, and Trimble GIS hardware.
- Profiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Schedule averages 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
- This position starts around May of 2026 and works for a total of 4 months. The start and end date can be adjusted based on availability.
- $20-25 per hour
- Position is based out of the headquarters location in Wheaton, IL and requires frequent visits to Forest Preserve locations throughout the county.
- Employees must wear appropriate pants and shoes to work in the field.
