What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Aide - Forest Park CI Classroom - Beginning 2025-26 position at Forest Park Schools?
This position is currently located in the Forest Park CI Classrooms and will begin with the 2025-26 school year starting on or after August 25, 2025. Wage is based on the ESP II Master Agreement Pay Scale. Full benefit package available. The posting will be open until filled.
Title: Instructional Aide
Report To: Supervisor of Special Education
Length of Contract: 181 Days during the Contracted School Year; 7 hours per day
Employment: Full-Time, Union, Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
1. Be a high school graduate, or equivalent, with a minimum of two (2) Years of successful experience as an aide in a day care training program or a special education classroom, or equivalent experience, and be recommended by an administrator who has supervised the work of the aide for at least one year.
OR
2. Be a high school graduate, or equivalent, with advance training in a community college or degree granting institution whose special education instructional aide training program has been approved by the Michigan Department of Education.
3. Experience or training specific to job assignment or classroom. (ie. Sign Language__Hearing Impaired; Braille__Visually Impaired.)
4. Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid driver’s license.
General Description: A paraprofessional is a person who assists the professional educator in the initiation, participation and culmination of learning activities that occur in the teaching/learning experience. The primary function of the paraprofessional is to assist the student in the successful completion of their individualized educational plan.
Essential Functions:
- To perform all duties and tasks under the direct supervision of a certified instructor.

To assist in providing a positive and safe learning atmosphere for students.

Able to physically manage, lift and interact with students of a wide range of physical size and ability as needed.

To supplement instruction by assisting the teacher with individual or small groups of pupils.

Reinforce instruction with remedial or drill activities as directed.

Prepares classroom materials, as directed.

Assists the teacher in preparing reports.

Maintain confidentiality with respect to student information.

Must have regular and reliable attendance.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstration how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
- Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
- Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluid and tissue.
- With reimbursement, may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job related functions.
Salary : $15 - $18
