Job Summary:
Manage tennis related activities and businesses including supporting tennis retail sales, supervising hourly staff and court maintenance, enforcing club rules and regulations, providing competent tennis instruction for all levels of players, supporting the Director of Tennis in event development, working with the Tennis Committee as directed and needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides group and individual tennis lessons as assigned by Tennis Professional.
- Promote and coordinate tennis socials, events, and premier club tournaments.
- Communicates with Director of Tennis to schedule and publicize club tennis events.
- Assists with special tennis events and tournaments.
- Records court reservations and lesson appointments.
- Answers phone calls in the Tennis Shop, books courts and lessons and invoices members for purchases.
- Oversees the administration of and officiates at tournaments, exhibitions, and club social events.
- Assist in the continued development of our pickleball programs.
- Assists maintenance team with court preparation and watering schedule. Helps keep the tennis facility clean and in proper order.
- Maintain accurate records of all lessons and clinics given, provides monthly written reports.
- Supervises other tennis staff including Tennis Shop salesperson.
- Supervises adult mixers and events.
- Manages Tennis Shop in Tennis Professional’s absence.
- Manages inventory of Tennis Shop; interacts with purchase personnel to acquire merchandise for resale as directed by the director of Tennis.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Assists Director of Tennis and completes other appropriate tasks assigned by the Tennis Professional
Qualifications
Qualifications, Education, & Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility successfully. This person must present a neat appearance and have a warm, cheerful personality. Tact and good judgment are especially beneficial characteristics. This person must also possess the knowledge, skill, and ability to carry out the job responsibilities.
- A college diploma or practical tennis playing experience is preferred.
- Specific collegiate team experience is desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating.
- 1-2 years’ country club experience is also preferred.
- Knowledge of Court Maintenance
- Experience Running Junior Development programs
- Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults indoors and outdoors with soft or hard surfaces.
- Ability to re-string, re-grip, and repair rackets
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business policies and procedures. Must have the ability to write simple reports and business correspondence. This person must also be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and members.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry equipment or supplies for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, outdoor, and occasionally noisy environment.
- Capability to perform physical tasks such as setting up tennis equipment, maintaining courts, and demonstrating tennis techniques.
Salary : $52,000 - $60,000
