Role Description This part-time Cook role is an on-site position based in Newark, NJ. The Cook will prepare and cook nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences, including any medical or cultural requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning menus in line with guidelines, preparing ingredients, cooking and portioning meals, and ensuring proper food presentation. The Cook will maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, follow food safety and hygiene standards, manage stock rotation, and coordinate with nursing and care staff to meet meal schedules. The role also involves occasional assistance with special events, adapting recipes as needed, and providing courteous service to residents.
Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a similar food preparation role, preferably in healthcare, residential, or institutional settings.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and proper kitchen sanitation practices.
- Ability to plan and prepare balanced, nutritious menus that accommodate dietary restrictions and individual preferences.
