Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed with precision.
- Handle animal restraint and behavior management to facilitate safe and stress-free examinations and procedures.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic efforts.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Administer pet care duties including feeding, grooming, pet grooming, and monitoring animal health status.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal physiology and general well-being.
- Assist with animal catheterization, IV placements, and other critical care procedures for veterinary patients.
- Support the team with equine or other specialized animal handling when required, utilizing your knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
Skills
- Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology to support clinical activities effectively.
- Experience with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory work to assist in diagnostics.
- Skilled in dog handling, pet grooming, pet care, and pet training to ensure animals are comfortable and well-managed.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during surgeries or invasive procedures.
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while applying proper restraint techniques for clear imaging.
- Strong animal restraint skills combined with excellent communication abilities for team collaboration.
- Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential!
