Role Description
The Registered Dental Hygienist is a full-time, on-site role based at Forest Dental Center in Lynchburg, VA. This role includes performing comprehensive dental prophylaxis, periodontal assessments, and non-surgical periodontal therapy, as well as providing thorough oral hygiene instruction and preventive care education to patients. Day-to-day responsibilities involve reviewing patient histories, taking and interpreting dental radiographs as permitted, collaborating with dentists on treatment plans, and documenting clinical findings accurately. The hygienist also helps maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, follows infection control protocols, and supports a welcoming patient experience through clear communication and compassionate care.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical foundation in Dentistry and Dental Care, with the ability to collaborate effectively with dentists and other team members.
- Demonstrated expertise in Hygiene and Dental Prophylaxis, including routine cleanings, oral health assessments, and patient counseling.
- Skill in recognizing, monitoring, and managing Periodontal Disease in coordination with the dentist’s treatment plan.
- Current state license as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in Virginia, with CPR/BLS certification.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and experience working in a patient-focused, general dentistry practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to patient education and a calm, friendly chairside manner.
- Ability to work efficiently in a small-team environment, maintain accurate clinical records, and use dental practice management and charting software.
