In School Suspension (ISS) Assistant - Middle School

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma required. At least two years of college preferred.
2. High moral and ethical standards.
3. A genuine interest in children and youth.
4. An understanding of and a belief in the role of a teacher
5. Good health, emotional stability, vitality and enthusiasm.
6. Correct oral and written communication skills.

Reports to: Principal (and his/her designee) and assigned teacher(s).

Job Goal: To help provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class

environment in which students can take full advantage of the

instructional program and instructional materials.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
2. Administer, score and record such tests as the teacher recommends for individual
3. Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work assigned by the teacher
4. Check notebooks, workbooks, and other written work.
5. Observe and monitor student behavior, and correct minor problems.
6. Help supervise halls and playgrounds as directed by the principal.
7. Manage, or assist with the “school store” as directed by principal (if applicable).
8. Provide car/bus duty supervision when directed by the principal.
9. Serve as a substitute teacher for assigned teacher in emergency situation when directed by the principal.
10. Participates in staff development training programs for teacher assistants and
11. other appropriate training as assigned by the principal.
12. Maintain confidentiality of student information.
13. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the principal.
14. Input student data in to the Power School system as needed.

Terms of Employment:

185 days unless otherwise stated by administration. FMSD S6 Salary Schedule.

Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated annually in accordance

with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of noncertified

personnel.
