Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provides advocacy services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, including developing strategies to enhance safety and increase knowledge of community resources.
  • Assists clients in filing restraining orders, victim assistance, crime victim compensation, etc.
  • Accompaniment to SANE exams, court proceedings and victim impact statements.
  • Provide emotional support and resources as needed for victims and survivors.
  • Plan and execute community engagement events and activities regarding domestic violence and sexual assault issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the effective delivery of services to communities.
  • Emphasizing confidentiality requires maintaining strict privacy of all client information, securing sensitive records, and complying with legal standards. Key duties include secure data storage, limited information sharing, managing sensitive, detailed case reports with extreme discretion.
  • Responds to calls and maintains FCP DV/SA Help Line. Responsible for providing emergency assistance by making immediate assessments of needs and making referrals to other community resources.
  • Incorporates cultural teaching activities into domestic violence and sexual assault preventative programming (healing circles, cultural activities)
  • Transports clients as needed to activities that are within the scope and education of domestic violence or sexual assault and other identified clients.
  • Assesses, reports and makes appropriate recommendations for any indication of abuse or neglect.
  • Provide resources for tribal members, descendants and their families as needed.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, extended hours, irregular shifts, and On-Call. Travel may be required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Must have a valid, clean driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age
  • Must successfully pass all applicable background checks and drug screens

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with victims and survivors of DV and SA
  • Trauma informed care used when providing case management
  • Knowledge of tribal, state, and federal laws pertaining to domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of records management for confidential cases
  • Experience working in community outreach or advocacy.
  • Proficiency in event planning and community programing
  • Knowledge of Tribal and Forest County Community culture. (i.e. Potawatomi, Sokaogon)
