Overview
- Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparing and/or serving food.
- Assist in cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils.
- Assist in the set up, and service; and collection of garbage/trash; as appropriate to the area of operation.
- Serve food to customers.
- Perform preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables.
- Weighing and measuring ingredients.
- Wrapping, date-labeling, and storing food items.
- Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils, and service station.
- Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
- Serving customers in a fast, efficient, and friendly manner.
- Providing customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability, and pricing.
- Escalating customer concerns and complaints to management.
- Prepares individual servings according to recipes and portion control standards.
- Seasons and prepares a wide variety of foods.
- Ensures that all work stations are kept clean and sanitary according to policies and procedures.
- Operates commercial kitchen equipment according to standards.
- Ensures that foods are prepared, stored, and served at appropriate temperatures.
- Follow proper food sanitation and food handling protocols.
- Follow customer instructions to ensure customers are receiving food as ordered.
- The minimum educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
- Reports to work promptly and on time.
- Maintains a well-groomed appearance appropriate for Food Service Helper Position.
- Completion of the provided training program.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient understanding of food allergies and modified diets.
- Excellent people skills.
- Available to work shifts and extended hours.
- One year experience in a commercial kitchen environment
- Food handler training certificate
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
- Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements.
- Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
