About the Role
ForesightCares builds AI-powered mobility assessment tools that help older adults, caregivers, and IL communities better understand and support day-to-day movement and independence. Our iPad app uses evidence-based mobility tests and generative AI to deliver clear, actionable insights in simple, user-friendly ways. We’re a small, mission-driven team in Charlotte focused on improving mobility, safety, and confidence for aging adults.
We’re looking for a Back-End AWS Developer to join our growing team building an AI-powered mobility assessment platform for older adults. You’ll work closely with our UI engineers, AI team, and product leadership to design, optimize, and maintain our backend systems that support real-time movement assessments, analytics, and generative AI features for older adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain back-end services using AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, AppSync, Cognito).
- Develop and maintain GraphQL APIs that power our iPad and future mobile apps.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to ensure scalable and reliable environments.
- Integrate LLM/AI services and manage API pipelines with our AI/ML team.
- Maintain and monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate closely with front-end/UI developers to deliver smooth end-to-end experiences.
- Partner with product and design to support feature development and technical decisions.
- Ensure security, compliance, and data best practices (especially around user and assessment data).
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional back-end development experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS serverless services: Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, Cognito.
- Experience building GraphQL and REST APIs.
- Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC tools.
- Familiarity with large language models and API integrations (OpenAI, Bedrock, etc.).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, event-driven design, and CI/CD workflows.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with UI developers, designers, and AI engineers.
- Strong debugging, performance tuning, and production support skills.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in healthcare, aging tech, remote monitoring, or regulated environments.
- Knowledge of Node.js, Python, or TypeScript-based serverless patterns.
- Startup experience (comfort with ambiguity, fast iteration, and ownership).
