DETAILS OF JOB
The BOP Technician is responsible for the preventative maintenance, service, repair and pressure testing of Blowout Prevention parts and components.
- Duties servicing all blowout preventers, ram and spherical type including associated valves.
- Perform and document all pressure tests for these components after service.
- Obtain and maintain an inventory of consumable materials and parts for these items.
- Organize and maintain the facility including the testing station and BOP store room.
- Aid management in developing a preventative maintenance system for these components.
- Aid management in training additional BOP Technicians.
- Assist field personnel with job related problems associated with these components.
- Coordinate with the Quality Manager to ensure all API and company requirements are met.
- Perform field service as required including troubleshooting, repairs, nipple up and servicing.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, due to the nature of the business, hours may be long and irregular. Weekend and evening hours may be necessary on occasion (on call every other weekend might be expected).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have mechanical aptitude.
- Must be comfortable working around high pressure equipment.
- Ability to communicate using basic oral and written communication.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Basic ability to identify hazards and perform Behavior-Based Safety Observation
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work outside in various and extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and bend to access equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, grease, dust, fuel fumes or other irritants.
- Exposure to loud noise.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly and handle physically demanding work.
- Must be able to work at heights of greater than 12 feet.
Education and Experience:
- 6 months of experience oilfield experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
- Must be familiar with pump and tank operations.
- Valid Driver’s License required, Commercial Driver License Preferred.
- Hydraulic system knowledge and repair preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $37.00 per hour
