Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary conditions in school facilities, including classrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, offices, restrooms, and common areas. The role performs daily custodial tasks, assists with floor care and laundry/linen operations, and supports the Lead Custodian and Supervisor in ensuring all areas meet quality standards.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is an hourly, full time, non-exempt position. Extended hours may be necessary based on operational needs, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends during school events.
Pay Rate
- $16/hr
Essential Functions and Duties
- Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.
- Assist with floor care, including sweeping, mopping, buffing, and carpet cleaning.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment safely and efficiently.
- Handle laundry and linen operations as needed.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables according to school policies.
- Report maintenance, safety, or facility issues to the Lead Custodian or Supervisor.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection prevention protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Responsibility as Required for Position
- Responsible for acting in conformance with all facility and departmental policies and procedures including those relating to Human Resources, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Health and Safety regulations, Compliance requirements, Patient Rights, Confidentiality, and HIPAA. Responsible for acting in conformance with accrediting agency standards.
- Attends department meetings as required.
- Demonstrates accountability to accept responsibility for personal/professional growth and any required certification/licenses, if applicable.
- Completes mandatory training and competencies annually.
Travel
- Travel between school buildings as needed to support operations and staff.

Requirements:Education/Experience/Training

- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and safety standards.
