The Sr. Path Lab Manager is an experienced laboratory operations leader that drives strategic alignment, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence and quality through standardized policies and workflow optimization. Provides training and competency assessment of lab managers and supervisors in their primary WI lab location (Manitowoc or Pleasant Prairie), ensuring consistency and alignment with organizational goals. Acts as a strategic partner to executive leadership, driving initiatives in workforce planning, training, process improvement, and capital planning to support scalable growth. Operates in a dyad partnership with fellow Sr. Pathology Lab Managers to standardize processes across both laboratories and ensure seamless cross-coverage.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Travel: Occasional travel to our Manitowoc lab as needed.

- Oversee daily laboratory operations with support from lab managers and supervisors, ensuring workflow efficiency, quality, turnaround times, and effective workforce planning while maintaining standardization across labs and alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee onboarding, training, and competency assessment for lab managers and supervisors, ensuring consistent leadership capability and performance.
- Partner with senior leadership to develop, standardize, and implement laboratory policies, SOPs, and workflows to drive consistency, quality, and compliance.
- Serve as a key liaison between laboratory leadership and executive teams, communicating priorities, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring alignment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CLIA, HIPAA, RCRA) through audits, training, and continuous process evaluation.
- Lead operational improvement initiatives, workflow analysis and redesign in response to organizational growth, performance metrics, quality or safety events, and evolving industry trends.
- Drive quality management practices, including corrective actions, root cause analysis, staff education, and adherence to safety standards.
- Mentor and develop lab leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Responsible for equipment lifecycle management and maintenance and provides input for capital planning and budgeting.
- Provide cross coverage for fellow Senior Lab Managers as needed (E.g., time off coverage).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must meet CLIA educational requirements for High Complexity Testing
- 7 years of experience in a high-volume pathology lab
- 3 years related pathology lab management experience
- HT/L (ASCP) certification preferred
- Leadership experience with the ability to model professionalism, adaptability, and accountability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of CLIA requirements and laboratory regulatory standards
- Proficiency in LIS, EMR, and Microsoft Office, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and computer skills
- Strong commitment to quality and process improvement
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, leadership, and pathologists
- Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and work both independently and as part of a team
- Effective time management skills with a focus on operational efficiency and productivity
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
