Summary:
Clinic Support for Surgeons. This position plays a key role in introducing prospective patients to the practice. During a physician’s clinic, the medical assistant or nurse collaborates with team members to manage clinic workflow, and ensure excellent patient care. This includes escorting patients to exam rooms, discussing primary goals, reviewing patient health history, and providing consultative education.

Responsibilities
Pre and Post-Operative Patient Care
- Works closely with physicians and team to prioritize daily tasks.
- Processes requests for information accurately and timely, and recognizes when it is appropriate to refer to another employee.
- Communicates effectively and is able to work as a team to achieve organizational goals and ensure excellent patient care. Competent in interpreting patient behavior and adjusts communication to suit patient needs.
- Incorporates principles of safety and infection control in daily activities.
- Incorporates continuous quality improvement into practice.
- Has knowledge of and complies with HIPAA.
- Demonstrates problem solving skills and abilities.
- EMR/EHR knowledge and computer skills required.
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant preferred (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).
Post High School education in a medical support field:
Certified Medical Assistant
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
- Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
- Must possess organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
