Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice Provost for Student Success, the Director, Office for International Services provides leadership to the office responsible for serving the University’s non-immigrant community by facilitating compliance with federal laws and regulations regarding visa status.
This position requires evening and weekend hours.
Essential Functions
Serves as the University’s Principal Designated School Official ( PDSO ), authorized by the United States Department of Homeland Security, and the Responsible Officer (RO), authorized by the Department of State.
Oversees the provision of visa and other immigration services to the University’s international students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars.
Designs and implements a strategy to address evolving regulatory policy and laws issued by or through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of State, the Social Security Administration, and other federal and state government agencies.
Serves as the primary University liaison to the government entities referenced above on ISA and immigration matters.
Advises all University Schools, units, and departments on visa and other immigration questions. This includes consulting with Schools and academic departments on the development of new programs, both degree and non-degree granting programs, geared toward an international audience.
Manages day-to-day operation of the office, supervises staff, oversees the budget, drafts reports, and provides statistics on international students and scholars to internal and external stakeholders.
Advocates for the University’s international community at both the individual and institutional levels, while providing guidance and support to faculty and administrators.
Provides guidance to the Offices of the Provost, General Counsel, Government Affairs, Human Resources, and other offices as requested on immigration and visa matters.

Management Responsibilities Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 6 years of experience in support of and advocacy for international students.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Supervisory Experience.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Experience with SEVIS and batch programs.
Experience with Banner and ISSM .
US citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required in order to be a PDSO /RO.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus, foster collaboration, and inspire others.
Demonstrated sound judgment, integrity, and ethical decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency or ability to quickly learn software tools such as Google and Microsoft Office suites.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Minimum Starting Salary $120,000
Maximum Starting Salary $135,000
