Equipment Manager

Position Summary

The Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, scheduling, and operational readiness of all company vehicles, farm equipment, and machinery. This role ensures equipment is safe, compliant, cost-effective, and available to support daily agricultural operations.

The Equipment Manager works closely with field supervisors, farm managers, mechanics, vendors, and management to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of all agricultural equipment and company vehicles
• Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance programs
• Coordinate equipment repairs and emergency breakdown response
• Maintain maintenance logs, service records, inspections, and repair history
• Monitor fuel usage, equipment hours, mileage, and operating costs
• Order parts, tools, tires, fluids, and shop supplies
• Coordinate with outside vendors and repair facilities
• Track warranties, registrations, permits, and compliance requirements
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment safety and functionality
• Assist with budgeting for repairs, replacements, and capital equipment purchases
• Train employees on proper equipment operation and safety procedures
• Monitor and enforce company safety policies and reporting procedures
• Oversee equipment inventory and asset tracking
• Assist management with fleet planning and replacement schedules
• Available for on-call response to field equipment breakdowns, including occasional after-hours situations
• Maintain organized shop and storage areas

Qualifications

• 3 years of agricultural equipment, fleet, or shop management experience preferred
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, irrigation systems, and farm equipment
• Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and coordinate repairs
• Knowledge of agricultural safety standards and DOT compliance preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, maintenance tracking, and reporting systems
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Experience in agriculture or irrigation operations
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs
• Inventory management experience
• Welding or mechanical background beneficial

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Standing, walking, bending, and climbing equipment regularly required

Compensation

• Hourly Range: $28–$45/hour depending on experience

• Salary Range: $70,000–$110,000 annually
