Primary Function:
The Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all concrete materials, placement and finishing meet the required project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. A successful candidate in this role must be detail-oriented, skilled in problem-solving, and committed to upholding the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review contracts, scopes, and specifications before and during construction.
- Assist project teams with quality-related technical questions and solutions.
- Review concrete mix designs in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
- Conduct site visits to monitor and verify compliance with quality standards.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, documenting issues as needed.
- Coordinate with general contractors, and project teams to maintain quality.
- Ensure regional compliance with safety and quality programs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in concrete construction or materials testing with knowledge of concrete production and placement
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Skilled at field verification of dimensions and procedures
- Understanding of industry standards and codes (ACI, PCI, TCA)
- Excellent problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience working in quality control roles
- Safe use of tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace
- ACI Level 1 Technician certification preferred
Other Requirements:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Frequent, extensive travel required
- Drive on a construction job site and walk on rough terrain as required
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic understanding of workplace safety or willingness to learn
Work Environment:
This position will be a combination of field, and occasional office work with potential exposure to loud noise, moving equipment, dust and outdoor elements. The worker is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat for extended periods exceeding one hour. Factors such as wind and humidity should also be considered, as they can intensify the cold and heat.
The worker is exposed to various atmospheric conditions that may impact the respiratory system or skin, including fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases, and inadequate ventilation.
