Job Summary:
The Business and Information Technology Teacher will deliver comprehensive instruction in various aspects of business and information technology to students at the middle school/high school/college levels. This role involves developing lesson plans, teaching courses, assessing student performance, and staying current with industry trends to provide relevant and engaging instruction. The teacher will also support students in developing the critical thinking, problem-solving, and technological skills needed to thrive in a business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Teaching:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and align with state/national education requirements.
- Teach courses in business subjects such as accounting, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and management.
- Instruct students in information technology topics such as computer applications, programming, digital literacy, and information systems.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, demonstrations, group work, and hands-on activities, to cater to different learning styles.
- Curriculum Development:
- Design and update the curriculum to reflect current trends and technologies in business and IT.
- Integrate the use of technology in the classroom to enhance learning experiences, including the use of software, online resources, and digital tools.
- Collaborate with colleagues and industry professionals to ensure the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student progress through assignments, projects, tests, and examinations.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic and personal growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage classroom behavior and enforce school policies to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with developments in the fields of business and information technology through continuous professional development.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Participate in school meetings, committees, and events as required.
- Student Support:
- Offer guidance and support to students on academic, career, and personal issues.
- Encourage and support students in participating in extracurricular activities related to business and technology, such as clubs, competitions, and internships.
- Collaboration:
- Work with other teachers, administrators, and staff to promote a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Technology Integration:
- Incorporate modern technologies and digital tools in teaching and administrative duties.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Education, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification/license in Business Education and/or Information Technology as required by the state.
- Experience: Previous teaching experience in business or information technology is preferred; industry experience is a plus.
