Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness at the library as well as seasonal outdoor work, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness. The hours are Thursday 3-9 and Saturday 9:30-6:30.
Duties
- Cleaning of all work areas, public access areas, restrooms, floors, and outside walkways and grounds
- Other duties as assigned
- Exterior clean-up and maintenance as needed; Snow and ice removal
- Trash collection, recycling, and disposal
- Set up (including AV equipment) and cleaning of public meeting rooms
- Assumes responsibility for the proper security of the building, performing routine security checks, locking interior and exterior doors and managing alarm systems
- Monitor building, out buildings and grounds for additional maintenance. Report and/or repair if possible.
- Minor repairs and maintenance
- General knowledge of all plant operations—heating, air conditioning, elevator, electrical, and plumbing systems
Qualifications
- 3–5 years experience in general maintenance
- High school diploma
- Punctuality, reliable attendance, dependability, ability to work independently and with others
- Ability to lift 52 pounds and perform moderate amounts of squatting, bending, lifting, and stretching as well as snow shoveling
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, and practices used in performing janitorial services
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Basic technology skills
Level of exertion from state definition: Medium - Exerting 20–75 pounds of force occasionally; 10–25 pounds of force frequently; or up to 10 pounds constantly. Walking or standing frequently. Ability to work around dust, mold, adhesives and other potential allergens.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.50 per hour
Expected hours: 14.5 per week
