Welcome Week/GOTV/Relational Director

For Michigan
Detroit, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 4/18/2026

Overview

As Michigan once again takes center stage in the 2026 midterm elections, students in our state have a unique opportunity to lead and make their voices heard. With nearly half a million students across more than 80 colleges and universities, young voters have the numbers and the power to shape the future through civic leadership.

For Michigan is building a scrappy and innovative statewide operation to protect and expand democracy by empowering youth leadership. We train, support, and mobilize thousands of college students to take control of their futures, get organized, and vote.

The WW/GOTV/Relational Director will play a key role in ensuring students are both welcomed into civic life at the start of the school year and mobilized to turn out in November.

What Will You Do?

The WW/GOTVRelational Director will use independent discretion and judgment to:

  • Lead program planning and statewide coordination of Welcome Week (WW), Get Out the Vote (GOTV) initiatives, and lead our Relational organizing program
  • Work directly with RODs, Campus Organizers, and student organizing fellows to design and execute high-visibility Welcome Week events that engage new and returning students, with a focus on driving volunteer recruitment and fellow participation
  • Help RODs and Campus Organizers brainstorm and plan creative events and strategies throughout the semester to build community, develop leadership, and sustain student involvement
  • Support the Operations department with logistics needs, supply procurement, and other priorities as needed
  • Collaborate closely with the Organizing department to set and meet Relational goals, spearheading this key piece of our peer-to-peer organizing strategy
  • Collaborate closely with the State Director, Organizing and Data department to set goals, build accountability systems, and evaluate progress using metrics
  • Communicate and manage across departments to ensure alignment on WW and GOTV goals
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership
