The Medical Assistant provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast-paced doctor’s office. This person will be involved in a wide spectrum of tasks focused around assisting the Physician in all minor in office procedures. This person be required to travel between our three locations (Stafford, Lake Ridge, and Fredericksburg) based on business need.
Medical Assistant Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other Duties May Be Assigned)
- Welcome, room, and prepare patients for exams and in-office procedures
- Take vitals, update medical histories, record medications/allergies, and document in the EMR
- Assist physicians with minor procedures, post-op care, digital X-rays, and basic podiatric services (nail care, callus removal, diabetic shoe fitting)
- Apply dressings, DME, and provide patient instructions and education
- Manage lab specimens, complete insurance verifications and pre-authorizations, and process prescriptions as directed
- Make post-operative phone calls, answer patient questions, and provide excellent customer service
- Open, prep, clean, and close exam rooms; sterilize instruments; manage inventory and supplies
- Maintain accurate documentation, support back-office operations, and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Travel between our Stafford, Lake Ridge, and Fredericksburg offices based on business needs (mileage reimbursed)
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR 1 year of clinical experience
- CMA or RMA certification preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance processes (preferred)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinic environment
- Detail-oriented, professional, and patient-focused
- Comfortable traveling between local office locations
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
