Warehouse Driver

Description

The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of FOOD Share’s Class “C” vehicles. This role ensures the timely delivery of food to partner agencies throughout Ventura County while providing exceptional customer service to all stakeholders. Duties include performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, securely loading and unloading product, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation. The Driver also picks up food donations from retail partners and community donors on an as-needed basis, following direction from the Food and Fleet Manager. This position plays a key role in supporting FOOD Share’s mission by ensuring food is transported safely, accurately, and in compliance with all DOT and organizational standards. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Drive FOOD Share’s Class “C” vehicles.
• Project a positive public image of FOOD Share at all times.
• Perform deliveries to partner agencies.
• Perform pick-ups from donors.
• Accurately process delivery and donation paperwork.
• Responsible for cleanliness of truck.
• Report any truck issues / concerns to Supervisor.
• Food Safety awareness.
• Assist with warehouse activities when driving and vehicle maintenance duties are complete.
• Report vehicle maintenance issues to the supervisor.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

• Knowledge and experience of vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to communicate well with staff and FOOD Share customers.
• Ability to communicate with volunteers and receive vehicle maintenance updates and reports.
• Able to function within a team environment requiring multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude. 
• Ability to operate forklift and other warehouse equipment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. 
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. 
• Two (2) or more years’ delivery driving experience is preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate exemplary customer service skills when communicating with all Food Share stakeholders. 
• Valid driver’s license and three (3) years of driving experience.
• Must maintain an insurable driving record under the organization’s auto insurance policy.
• Must adhere to all Food Share safety rules and requirements. 
• Willing to work a flexible schedule determined by food needs of the food bank.
• Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Food Share.

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Drivers are required to be organized and efficient at prioritizing projects
• Drivers need to have the ability to work with and manage volunteers to maximize efficiency
• Drivers need to have exemplary customer service skills to communicate with all food bank stakeholders
• Drivers need to ensure they follow Food Safety Standards throughout the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to access and navigate all departments within the organization’s facilities, including areas requiring stair use. 
• Must be able to perform physical labor as needed, including standing, walking, and moving for extended periods. 
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. 
• Able to safely operate and work around warehouse equipment.

Salary : $20 - $22
