Description
Foodland Super Market, Hawai‘i’s largest locally owned supermarket chain, is seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Retail Support Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining accurate product cost and pricing data to support profitability, compliance, and operational excellence across all departments.
The Retail Support Specialist plays a key role in item life-cycle management, margin maintenance, vendor cost support, pricing system management, and end-user assistance. This position partners closely with our merchandising teams, vendors, and store operations to ensure integrity across pricing platforms and the timely execution of workflows.
Duties, Expectations & Responsibilities
Master Data & Systems Support
- Provide support for master data applications including:
- Chaintrack HQ
- Symphony GOLD (PIM)
- Celerant
- BRdata
- NCR/Toast
- Interscale
- Maintain item file integrity, including new item setups, promotional pricing, and ad planner verification.
- Manage PLU directories for Meat, Seafood, Bakery, Service Deli, R. Field, and Produce departments.
- Support Private Label pricing assurance.
Price/Cost Analysis & Margin Management
- Review, process, and validate product costs from vendors, distributors, and suppliers.
- Monitor and update costs to ensure accuracy in pricing and margin calculations.
- Support enforcement of strategic business rules, competitive pricing, and margin targets.
- Generate reports on pricing trends, vendor performance, and margin analytics.
- Assist with audits related to invoices, purchase orders, and cost records.
- Provide guidance to store teams on cost-related issues and margin optimization.
- Manage cost exception reporting and scan exception resolution.
Vendor Community Support
- Recruit, train, and support vendors in using electronic web-based tools for cost and item updates.
- Provide ongoing supervision of vendor web participation.
Store & Internal Support
- Respond efficiently to store inquiries and provide solutions across pricing systems.
- Assist merchandising and IT teams with workflow execution, system processes, and data accuracy.
- Support additional company initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- At least 18 years of age.
- College degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience
- Knowledge of grocery retail operations, vendor management, and pricing systems preferred.
- Experience with margin analysis, cost control, compliance, or audit processes strongly desired.
- Ability to work with large data sets and multiple digital platforms.

Work Environment
- Full-time, office-based position at the Main Office.

- Must be available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays, to support business needs.
