Job Title: Warehouse Lead
Department: Sullivan Family Distribution Center
Hours: Monday - Sunday (9:00A - 5:30P)
Overview:
The Warehouse Lead at the Sullivan Family Distribution Center oversees daily warehouse operations, supervises staff, and ensures receiving, inventory control, and warehouse tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The role includes leading and training employees, maintaining compliance with safety and food quality standards, monitoring productivity, resolving inventory issues, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams. Candidates should have warehouse leadership experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, knowledge of inventory practices, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Essential Job Duties:
- Ensure warehouse operations follow established company policies and applicable food safety, quality, traceability, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Plan, assign, and direct daily work for warehouse associates to meet productivity standards and service levels.
- Support staffing needs by assisting with recruiting, onboarding, cross-training, and ongoing employee development.
- Provide day-to-day coaching, feedback, and performance documentation; support performance reviews and corrective action processes as needed.
- Promote a positive, safe, and respectful work environment; set expectations, address issues professionally, and model company standards.
- Oversee the accurate receiving of records, documents and communicate damages/discrepancies to appropriate channels
- Maintain department quality and productivity metrics; identify opportunities to improve accuracy, throughput, and cost control.
- Oversee inventory integrity activities such as location bin maintenance, cycle counts, and support of periodic physical inventories.
- Report and resolve nonconformances in applicable systems and ensure statues are updated; investigate and correct irregularities.
- Coordinate proper handling and disposal of rejected/damaged materials in accordance with vendor and internal procedures.
- Maintain the physical condition and security of the warehouse; coordinate repairs, follow preventive/warranty maintenance schedules, and report unsafe conditions.
- Support compliance with OSHA and other warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements; escalate risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and drivers to support timely receiving, returns processing, and issue resolution.
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- 3 years of warehouse/receiving experience, including at least 1–3 years in a lead/supervisory capacity.
- Working knowledge of inventory control practices (receiving, put-away, bin maintenance, cycle counting) and productivity standards.
- Ability to plan work, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong people-leadership skills, including coaching, training, and performance documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving and follow-through.
- Ability to work a variable schedule, including overtime during peak periods.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain/maintain certification) and ability to operate warehouse equipment safely.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed primarily in a warehouse/receiving environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, varying temperatures, and refrigerated/frozen areas (as applicable).
- Requires regular use of PPE and adherence to safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to stand and walk throughout the scheduled work shift
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 50lbs
- Ability to work all environments.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, outward, walk and sit; and occasionally squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, crawl and reach above shoulder.
