The Lead Gas Station Attendant is responsibile for supervising gas station attendants and work closely with the Store Director to achieve gas station and company objectives regarding sales and profits. Lead Gas Station Attendants set the example for gas station employees and ensures that the standards of excellent customer service are achieved. Works independently within the guidelines established with direction from their direct supervisor (Store Director) and their District Manager.
This position is also responsible for assisting in the operation of the gas station including cashiering, collecting payments from customers, making change, or charging purchases to customers' credit cards and providing customers with receipts. They clean, collect, and dispose outside trash. They order stock, and price and shelve incoming goods, and provide assistance and customer service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Accurately operate cash register machines to itemize, record and total customer merchandise purchases.
- Collect payment from customers and make change for cash transactions.
- Prepare timely (daily) deposits to bank.
- Log daily cashier evaluations, sales, over/shorts, etc.
- Conduct weekly change/house fund audits and change fund deposits.
- Maintain detailed and accurate gasoline checklists which would be made available to the field consultant.
- Call for gas fill as needed as well as supplies for gas computer and reader.
- Communicate and respond to Gas management regarding gas prices and technical difficulties.
- Work with Store Director to communicate and respond to needs of gas station operations.
- Operate gas console to turn on pumps for customers as they pay accurately and efficiently.
- Refill safe as cashiers vend for rolls in various amounts.
- Count money in register and reconcile cash, Travelers checks, charges, and promotional coupons at the end of work shift.
- Accurately report and properly handle any spills as per company guidelines.
- Prepare and call-in sales figures, send in time sheets/cards and schedules, and all other necessary office paperwork in a timely manner.
- Check in vendors as they arrive, assuring all products charged for are received and place orders with vendors when required.
- Ensure that all fuel deliveries are entered on your shift upon delivery with vendor root report attached to invoice.
- Promote and ensure effective communication and feedback at all levels.
- Follow the Hoaloha service roles, expectations, and behaviors.
- Promote and uphold the missions, visions, values, and goals of the company.
- Ensure all cleaning and stocking is done prior to leaving shift.
- Verify I.D.’s when selling cigarettes.
- Conduct cigarette inventory at the end of each shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must successfully pass Math Test
- Must successfully pass Cashier Training
- Prior cash handling experience preferred.
- Prior team lead and or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Must have ability to communicate in person with management, customers, and employees.
- Must have a positive service-oriented attitude towards our customers, our products, and our company.
- Ability to effectively manage total gas station operations, ensuring that station is staffed, cleaned, properly stocked, well lit, equipment operating properly and “ready for business”
- Ability to properly train and develop employees in customer service techniques, merchandise knowledge, selling skills, merchandising skills, and proper work procedures
- Ability to read and understand checks, cash, and charge transactions. Issue receipts for purchases. Redeem promotional coupons.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical operations for the collection of payment from customers, the provision of change to customers, and for the accounting of monies in the cash register at the end of the shift.
- Ability to communicate in person with Store Director, District Manager, customers, and employees.
- Ability to lift, maneuver and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds at waist level.
