Responsibilities
- Process all customer payments accurately using billing software, QuickBooks, Quicken, and other financial systems
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions with precision, including account reconciliation and data entry
- Handle collections account management to ensure timely payments and resolve billing discrepancies
- Perform detailed Excel data analysis, utilizing formulas and spreadsheets to support financial reporting and account analysis
- Maintain compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) standards in all financial transactions
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding billing inquiries, payment status, and account issues via phone and email
- Support month-end closing procedures by preparing journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with financial software like QuickBooks or Sage is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and report generation
- Familiarity with public accounting practices, corporate accounting standards, and internal control procedures including SOX compliance
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry, account reconciliation, and financial recordkeeping
- Outstanding customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette for client communication
- Ability to perform math calculations quickly using 10 key typing skills and apply technical accounting principles effectively
- Demonstrated ability to manage collections accounts efficiently while maintaining positive client relationships
