JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:           General Cafeteria Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character.
2. Have good interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
3. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organization skills.
4. Provide required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

REPORTS TO:           Coordinator of Food Services, Food Services Manager

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all staff for excellent performance.

1. Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food to students, staff, and visitors following established health and sanitation rules, using the menu developed.

1. Move food and supplies from freezers and storage areas to the food preparation area.

1. Operate in a safe and sanitary manner steam cookers, gas and electric ranges, baking ovens, mixers, and other food preparation equipment.

1. Operate Point of Sale computer during breakfast and lunch periods for meal accountability.

1. Operate washing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, pots and pans from cafeteria and kitchen areas.

1. Keep all equipment and food preparation and storage areas clean, sanitary, neat, and in safe condition.

1. Follow and document all required Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations.

1. Clean, sweep, and mop floors.

1. Wipe tables in student and faculty dining areas with bleach and water for sanitation.

1. Dispose of trash and food waste in an approved manner.

1. Serve in the school assigned, substituting when necessary.

1. Notify and assist the certificated staff, building administration and appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, and potentially dangerous or unusual situations, following district policy and regulations.

1. Demonstrate positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.

1. Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any meetings required by supervisors.

1. Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.

1. Adhere to New Jersey school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and regulations, and contractual obligations.

1. Perform all other duties as required by law, code, or Board policy.

1. Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Superintendent or his designee may assign from time to time and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.

1. Demonstrate sufficient strength to lift items as much as fifty (50) pounds and be able to move them around.

1. Demonstrate stamina to remain standing in a hot kitchen for periods as long as two (2) hours without discomfort.

1. Follow the directives of the Cook Manager.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Contract terms, salary, and benefits as established by the collective bargaining agreement.
2. Conditions established by laws and codes of New Jersey; and policies, rules, and regulations established by the Passaic Board of Education.
3. Non-Tenurable.
