What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Substitute position at Food Service Dept.?
Substitute for food service department.
DEFINITION: Responible for serving lunch and/or breakfast at an assigned school.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Is responsible for preparing lunchroom area prior to feeding time as well as clean up of lunch room area after noon meal. Is responsible for serving students and adults efficiently and in accordance with sanitary and health regulations as related by Food Service Supervisor. Has to be able to work with a time schedule.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Needs sufficient education to be able to comprehend written as well as oral instructions.
COMMENTS:
- Requires organizational skills.
- Must be committed to concept of providing food services to children with no discrimination.
- Must have ability to establish proper working relationship with elementary building administrators, teachers, and other staff.
- Must have the ability to relate to young children and be able to encourage young children to taste-test the various foods served to them.
- Must be able to stand on feet for duration of assigned work period as well as be able to lift and carry heavy objects daily.
- Must be willing to perform any other related duties as requested by Food Service Supervisor and/or Building Administrator.
Ability to handle the public in a friendly and courteous manner, and the ability to favorably influence the public’s image of the school.
