Service Technician / Food Safety Specialist
40 Hours Per Week, 10-10.5 months | Southern CA
Location: Orange County Area
Food Safety Systems provides solutions to the School Nutrition Industry in the areas of compliance in food safety and sanitation, on-site training, and delivery of cleaning materials. We are seeking a Service Technician / Food Safety Specialist to service school districts in Southern California.
Our Service Technicians are trained and certified Food Safety Specialists who implement and monitor food safety programs through standardized service calls to school kitchens throughout Southern California.
About the Role
As a Service Technician / Food Safety Specialist, you will:
- Visit approximately 7 school kitchens per day within a designated geographic area.
- Review and assess food safety and sanitation practices.
- Provide on-site training to school food service staff on food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Manage and replenish sanitation supply inventory using a company-provided service vehicle.
- Document all service visits electronically using our proprietary software on a company-provided smartphone or tablet.
- Communicate daily via written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues
Schedule
- 8 hour workdays beginning between 5:00–6:00 AM and typically ending by 2:00–3:00 PM
- Commute from your home each day to a designated set of customer sites in company provided vehicle. Team meetings are held monthly at company headquarters in Tustin
- Follows the traditional school calendar—no evenings, weekends, or major holidays (except for occasional conferences or company meetings).
- Some overnight travel may be required.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an individual who is:
- An experienced, detail-oriented, organized food service professional (school food service background preferred).
- ServSafe® certified or able to obtain certification.
- Independent, professional, and customer-service oriented with a positive attitude.
- Excellent time management skills
- Comfortable conducting both small and large group trainings in a supportive, professional manner.
- Skilled in written and verbal communication.
- Proficient with technology (smartphones, email , Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
- Physically able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs., walk distances, climb stairs and safely enter/exit a service vehicle.
- Licensed to drive, possess a good driving record and able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- A high school graduate (or GED equivalent)
- Spanish bilingual speaking ability is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a 40 hr. per week, non-exempt position for approximately 10 months, following a school year calendar, with a competitive compensation and benefits package:
