Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain the company's Food Safety & Quality Management System.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations and standards at the local, state, federal, and international levels.
- Lead compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements, including SQF certification.
- Support production operations by ensuring consistent product quality, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain all food safety and quality documentation, records, and data management systems.
- Review packaging and product labeling to ensure regulatory compliance and accuracy.
- Manage supplier approval, monitoring, and quality compliance programs.
- Coordinate and participate in internal audits, customer audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party certification audits.
- Oversee outsourced laboratory testing programs, including environmental monitoring, product testing, and other food safety analyses.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and implement strategies that strengthen the company's food safety and quality culture.
- Monitor departmental resources and control costs within established budgets.
- Work closely with supervisors and department leaders to resolve quality issues and improve operational performance.
- Review quality documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Develop and deliver food safety and quality training programs for employees at all levels.
- Lead by example in promoting food safety best practices throughout the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or certificate in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of Food Safety and Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of:
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
- HACCP
- Allergen Management
- Food Safety Management Systems
- Experience with SQF and GFSI certification programs preferred.
- Experience managing outsourced food safety and environmental testing programs is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising employees and leading cross-functional projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of food science principles, manufacturing processes, quality assurance systems, and applicable food industry regulations.
