Floating Convenience Store Manager

Food Management Search
Milton, DE Full Time
POSTED ON 9/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/25/2026
Well-established regional operator with more than 200 full- and part-time employees, including many long-tenured managers and team members.  The organization operates successful convenience retail and gasoline locations with extensive grocery, beverage, tobacco, lottery, general merchandise, and freshly prepared food offerings.

These are not traditional gasoline-only convenience stores. The locations feature a substantial cooked-to-order quick-service food program, requiring strong leadership across both retail and foodservice operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Floating Convenience Store Manager will work across multiple locations, covering manager vacations, supporting high-volume or understaffed stores, assisting with special projects, and learning the operation of each site.
The position is also part of the company’s management-succession plan. The successful candidate will be trained to assume permanent leadership of a location as future management openings occur, including the anticipated retirement of long-tenured Store Managers.
This is a hands-on operating role. The Floating Manager must be willing to work alongside the team and become actively involved in customer service, food preparation, merchandising, inventory, cash controls, staffing, and all other areas of store operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide temporary Store Manager coverage for vacations, leaves, open positions, and other operational needs
• Support high-volume or challenged locations and help restore operating consistency
• Learn the team, customer base, operating routines, and business needs of each assigned store
• Create and maintain a customer-first culture throughout every location
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, coach, and develop managers and team members
• Keep management and hourly positions appropriately staffed with fully trained employees
• Conduct regular management and employee meetings to encourage communication, feedback, accountability, and follow-through
• Communicate performance expectations and measure employees against established operating goals
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, safety programs, and employment practices
• Monitor sales, labor, inventory, expenses, waste, cash controls, and overall store profitability
• Analyze business results and take corrective action when performance falls below expectations
• Oversee grocery, beverage, tobacco, lottery, general merchandise, gasoline, and foodservice operations
• Maintain relationships with vendors and food suppliers
• Order, receive, rotate, merchandise, and control store inventory
• Oversee food preparation, presentation, freshness, sanitation, and quality control
• Ensure compliance with ServSafe, health-department, food-safety, and workplace-safety requirements
• Complete daily sales reconciliation, invoice entry, cash management, and required operating reports
• Address customer complaints, employee concerns, equipment problems, and operating incidents promptly
• Maintain clean, organized, safe, and customer-ready stores
• Build positive relationships with customers and the surrounding communities
• Assist with company programs, store transitions, training initiatives, and special assignments
• Prepare to assume permanent leadership of a store when the appropriate opportunity becomes available
