Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting
Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies
Job Costing & Project Accounting
Manage and maintain accurate job costing systems across all projects
Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, including revenue recognition and cost tracking
Partner with project managers to review project financial performance, budgets, and forecasts
Analyze job profitability and provide actionable insights to leadership
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy
Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts aligned with company goals
Provide financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial health of the business
Identify risks and opportunities within project pipelines and overall operations
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
Implement and improve accounting systems, controls, and workflows
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, estimating, and executive leadership
Compliance & Controls
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with all financial regulations
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements
Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and financial partners
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
7–15 years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in construction or mechanical contracting
Strong expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project-based financials
Experience managing accounting teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities
Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner with both finance and operations teams
Preferred Experience
Background in HVAC, plumbing, or industrial mechanical contracting
Experience with multi-project, high-revenue construction environments
CPA or CMA certification
