Civil Engineer – Land Development

If you're looking for a position where you'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, collaborate with an experienced and supportive team, and continue growing your career with a company that has built its reputation over more than 40 years, we'd love to talk with you.

We are seeking a Civil Engineer with approximately 5–10 years of professional experience to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to continue developing their technical expertise while taking on increasing project responsibility. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, industrial, municipal, and land development projects throughout Massachusetts alongside talented engineers, designers, project managers, and construction professionals from concept through construction.

Our work continues to grow through long-standing client relationships and referrals, resulting in a strong backlog of projects extending through the end of 2027. As our team expands, we're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges, collaborating with others, and continuing to build their technical and project management skills.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Join a well-established and highly respected engineering and construction organization with over 40 years of successful project delivery.

  • Work on a wide variety of challenging civil engineering projects—not the same project over and over.

  • Enjoy long-term project stability supported by a strong backlog of work.

  • Collaborate with an experienced, supportive team that enjoys mentoring and helping engineers continue to grow.

  • Be part of a culture that is professional, hardworking, and committed to quality while maintaining a positive, approachable work environment.

  • Continue developing your technical expertise while taking on increasing project leadership responsibilities.

  • Professional development and PE licensure support are encouraged.

What You'll Do

As a Civil Engineer, you'll support and help manage projects from early planning and design through permitting, construction, and project completion while continuing to build your technical and project management experience.

Engineering Design & Analysis

  • Prepare and support civil engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents.

  • Design grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, roadways, parking facilities, and site development improvements.

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar modeling software.

  • Develop erosion and sedimentation control plans in accordance with Massachusetts regulations.

  • Review technical documents, calculations, and engineering plans to ensure quality and accuracy.

Project Coordination

  • Support the management of multiple projects while assisting with schedules, budgets, client communication, and project coordination.

  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, architects, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.

  • Assist in preparing project scopes, proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.

  • Help monitor project progress and proactively identify solutions to keep projects moving.

Permitting & Regulatory Coordination

Prepare and coordinate permitting packages with agencies including:

  • MassDEP

  • MassDOT

  • Conservation Commissions

  • Wetlands Protection Act

  • Municipal subdivision regulations

  • Local zoning requirements

  • NPDES requirements and environmental regulations

Construction Support

  • Conduct site visits and construction observations.

  • Review RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, and contractor submittals.

  • Provide engineering support during construction and assist in resolving field issues.

  • Prepare field reports and monitor construction progress.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers on a variety of civil engineering projects.

  • Participate in QA/QC reviews.

  • Support proposal development and client presentations.

  • Build lasting relationships with clients, consultants, and public agencies.

  • Continue developing leadership and project management skills with guidance from senior engineers.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Approximately 5–10 years of professional civil engineering experience.

    • Microsoft Office

    • GIS experience is a plus
