What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef Instructor- Full Time Denver position at Food Lab?
Full-Time Chef Instructor
Food Lab is looking for an experienced chef to join our Denver team full time.
This is a different kind of chef job. Our chefs lead hands-on cooking classes and private events, working directly with guests as they cook their way through a Food Lab menu. You’ll demonstrate techniques, answer questions, keep multiple cooking stations moving, and make sure the class stays on track and everyone has a great experience.
We have established menus, recipes, prep lists, and systems for how our classes run. You’ll learn those systems, execute them consistently, and bring your own personality and cooking experience to the room.
This full time role also includes supporting our kitchen manager with ordering, inventory, and keeping the kitchen organized and ready for classes.
Professional kitchen experience is required.
Evening and weekend availability is required.
What You’ll Do
- Lead hands-on cooking classes and private events using Food Lab menus, recipes, and systems
- Own each class from prep and setup through teaching, breakdown, and cleanup
- Demonstrate techniques and guide guests through preparing the menu
- Manage the timing and flow of multiple cooking stations
- Support the kitchen manager with ordering, inventory, and kitchen organization
- Maintain Food Lab standards for food quality, sanitation, and food safety
Who We’re Looking For
You need to be a strong cook who also enjoys working with people. A big part of the job is being in front of guests—explaining techniques, answering questions, keeping the room moving, and making cooking feel approachable and fun.
We’re looking for someone with professional kitchen experience, strong cooking and knife skills, and a solid understanding of kitchen operations. You should be organized, comfortable leading a group, able to juggle several things at once, and willing to take ownership of your classes and the kitchen.
Experience teaching or working directly with guests is a plus, but what matters most is strong culinary skills, confidence in the kitchen, and the ability to connect with people.
Food Handler/ServSafe and Alcohol Serving certification are required, or must be obtained before starting
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a schedule built around our class and private-event calendar. Evening and weekend shifts are a regular part of the role and are required.
