What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front of House Event Server position at Food Jobs Work?
We are a culinary workforce development organization, changing the lives of underemployed adults and youth through culinary workforce training since 2017. Our students have experienced challenges such as justice involvement, poverty, homelessness, addiction or abuse. We empower them with work skills that are desperately needed by our communities, as well as the knowledge that they are capable, worthy and deserving of better days.
Our innovative 10-week adult culinary program immerses adults from all backgrounds into the culinary arts, blended with an intensive life skills program that works to chip away any self-limiting behaviors or beliefs holding them back. This program includes knife skills, sanitation, food production and catering skills, as well as a certification in food safety and in customer service.
A large part of our programming includes preparing food for others. This may mean using the class members' skills to feed the homeless or cater an upscale event. Any income from these activities benefits our life-changing programming.
We also planning a 3-week barista training program for teens and young adults, which includes food safety and customer service training.
Our long-term goals include building our own facility in North Little Rock, where we can provide instruction, catering/retail takeout meals, and a small café to feature the skills of our culinary and barista students.
,
We have an immediate opportunity to be part of the Jacques Pepin Foundation's 90 for 90 event campaign as an Event Server in North Little Rock, Arkansas on Thursday, Nov. 20. This event can lead to other volunteer and paid opportunities with the host organization, Food Jobs Work, if desired.
Event Servers will attend to two round tables of 8 guests each. They will serve two main courses and a dessert and will pour wine to accompany these courses. Must have knowledge of formal serving and clearing, and must be able to pour wine at the table to a specified amount.
About Our Event
Join us for Une Fête Celebrating Jacques Pépin and Food Jobs Work, a special celebration honoring legendary chef Jacques Pépin's 90th birthday while supporting Food Jobs Work's mission of changing lives through culinary workforce education. This unique event combines the joy of French culinary tradition with meaningful community impact, bringing together food lovers and philanthropists to support culinary education for Arkansas' most vulnerable populations.
Our event is Arkansas’ only participating Chef Event in the Jacques Pépin Foundation’s 90/90 Dinner Series, the JPF's first national fundraising campaign of 90 parties across the country celebrating Chef Pépin’s 90th birthday year, raising funds to advance culinary education initiatives nationwide. For this event, the JPF is allowing Food Jobs Work to keep event proceeds for reinvestment back into the organization’s local work.
