Job Summary
A&B Ingredients is seeking a Microbiologist with 1–3 years of laboratory experience to support routine microbiological testing, laboratory operations, and R&D initiatives. This role is ideal for an early-career microbiologist who is comfortable executing established methods, managing daily laboratory responsibilities, and supporting development work under the guidance of senior scientists.
The successful candidate will perform microbiological analyses with accuracy and efficiency, maintain laboratory operations, and contribute to data generation that supports product development and technical projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine microbiological testing accurately by following established protocols and instrument-based methodologies. Identify atypical or unexpected results and consult with senior microbiologists or supervisors as needed.
- Maintain complete laboratory documentation, including lab notebooks, test records, and sample tracking logs. Record and report test results accurately, clearly, and in a timely manner.
- Support day-to-day laboratory operations, including inventory management of media, reagents, and supplies as well as clean and maintain laboratory equipment such as incubators, refrigerators, freezers, autoclaves, pH meters, and water activity meters.
- Independently plan and manage daily workload to meet internal project and client timelines. Maintain working cultures; prepare, sterilize, and store microbiological media.
- Follow laboratory safety practices, SOPs, and quality system requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- 1–3 years of hands-on microbiology laboratory experience (industry, academic, or applied research).
- Proven experience with aseptic techniques and standard microbiological methods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage routine testing independently while escalating issues appropriately.
- Must be a great communicator and personable.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
